Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Rehabilitation Registered Nurse to join our specialized team. This role involves working with patients who have a variety of neurological conditions, including cerebrovascular disease, traumatic brain injury, amputations, spinal cord injuries, and severe deconditioning. The Medical Rehabilitation Unit is designed to promote recovery and improve the quality of life for patients through comprehensive rehabilitation strategies.
Unit Description
The unit consists of 24 beds and employs a collaborative care approach. Each patient is assigned a dedicated care team that includes a physiatrist, Nurse Practitioner, nursing staff, two therapists (based on individual patient needs), and a social worker. The care team works together to create tailored rehabilitation plans, with therapy services provided for three hours each day, Monday through Friday. The average length of stay for patients is around two weeks.
Shift Details
- Available Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
- Work Schedule: 3x12 hour night shifts (7 PM - 7 AM), weekdays, and every other weekend
- Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
Orientation
Orientation sessions are held every other Thursday to welcome and onboard new staff members.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
- At least 1 year of experience in a relevant specialty preferred
- Charge nurse experience is preferred but not mandatory
- BLS certification (must be AHA) is required
- Acute care rehabilitation experience is preferred
Patient Population
The patient demographic includes individuals with:
- Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI)
- Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI)
- Strokes
- Amputation
- Neuromuscular Disorders
- Severe Deconditioning related to cardiac or respiratory events
Additional Information
Travelers are encouraged to apply, and there are no scheduled call requirements. Flexibility with block scheduling requests can be discussed during the interview process. A valid RN license from the state of West Virginia or a compact license is required to begin work. There are no restrictions on time-off requests, but all requests must be communicated in the application and discussed during the interview.
