Description

Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

This position is for a Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) with a focus on providing acute patient care to individuals with end-stage renal disease and related conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Provide acute hemodialysis treatments in a patient-centered environment.
Assist in the care management of patients undergoing peritoneal and hemodialysis.
Monitor and assess patients' conditions, ensuring safety and effectiveness of treatment.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address patient needs and improve outcomes.
Participate in storm team or hurricane team assignments as required.
Take on support tasks in other departments when the dialysis census is low.

Qualifications

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Certification in Nephrology Nursing (CNN) or Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) preferred.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in acute dialysis nursing required.
First-time travelers are welcome to apply.

Shift Details

Schedule: 3 shifts per week (0645-1915).
Requirement to work every other weekend.
Participate in on-call rotation, specifically Sundays from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Patient Care Focus

Care for patients with the following diagnoses:

End-stage renal disease on dialysis.
Chronic kidney disease progression to hemodialysis.
Acute kidney injury.
Peritoneal dialysis failure requiring a change to hemodialysis.
Transplant rejection necessitating hemodialysis.

Equipment and Systems

Experience with Fresenius and Baxter dialysis equipment is essential.
Familiarity with Epic systems for medication, documentation, and communication is required.
Utilization of Voalte phones for reporting.

Orientation

Successful candidates will complete a 24-hour orientation program, including 12 hours on-site in the ICU and 12 hours in the dialysis room and peritoneal dialysis.

Scrubs

Scrubs will be provided for this position.
