Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to work in our MedSurg and Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The successful candidate will be adaptable and willing to work flexibly across various departments as needed. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care and ensuring optimal patient safety and education.

Responsibilities

• Assess and identify the needs of patients and their significant others for education and provide appropriate educational resources.
• Implement safety measures for patients, including the use of side rails, restraints, and safe equipment handling, in accordance with hospital policy.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the safe operation and troubleshooting of equipment in the PCU/Telemetry/MedSurg areas.
• Adhere to infection control and isolation procedures and utilize standard precautions consistently.
• Maintain accurate, concise documentation of patient status, nursing interventions, and patient responses during assigned shifts.
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation of physician orders and communicate any critical lab values to physicians as per policy.
• Participate in shift handovers by providing complete and accurate reports to oncoming staff.
• Maintain and restock emergency carts and general supplies as needed; perform other duties as assigned.
