Job Summary
The MRI Technologist will perform procedures under the medical supervision of certified radiologists, following established protocols. This role includes assisting radiologists as needed and supervising student MRI Technologists while maintaining excellent customer relations.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the care and safety of patients during imaging procedures with a focus on age-appropriate care.
- Efficiently use time and resources to meet patient care assignments while adhering to quality and timeliness standards.
- Instruct and prepare patients for imaging procedures, ensuring informed consent is obtained as needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their family members regarding procedures and discharge instructions.
- Accurately enter correct orders, diagnoses, and clinical history into the computer system.
- Maintain adherence to hospital and departmental safety policies and procedures, practicing good radiation protection according to established guidelines.
- Assist other members of the Imaging Team and clerical staff in maintaining records and reports.
- Demonstrate flexibility and accountability in job duties while engaging in team efforts.
- Participate in improving departmental operations by offering ideas and solutions.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to perform MRI exams and teach others to produce satisfactory diagnostic images.
- Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations.
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Possess a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.
- Preferably have cross-sectional anatomy or MRI experience.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Allied Health Professionals.
Work Demands
This position requires frequent standing, walking, and lifting/moving patients, including pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs. Additionally, it involves frequent use of hand dexterity and constant reaching with hands/arms. Candidates must have corrected hearing and vision to a normal range and should be prepared for exposure to blood, body fluids, and other healthcare environment conditions, including risk of radiation and potential exposure to infectious materials.
The work environment is typically quiet to moderately noisy, and the role may involve working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Availability for weekends and holidays may be required to meet departmental needs.
