Description
This position involves serving as a Surgical Technologist in the operating room, primarily within the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR). The individual will possess a thorough understanding of surgical procedures, ensuring the availability and functionality of all necessary supplies and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- (30%) Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures and effectively problem-solve related to the procedure being conducted. Verify items on the physician preference card and be accountable for supplies to ensure accurate patient billing.
- (30%) Properly use and assemble equipment and disposables, as well as maintain cleanliness and sterilization. Ensure all equipment, supplies, and instruments are correctly prepared and functioning for each surgical procedure.
- (30%) Maintain sterile environments by monitoring the sterile field and recognizing any breaches in technique.
- (10%) Set up the sterile field with instruments promptly and maintain accurate records of medications, sponges, instruments, and sharps on the sterile fields as per policy.
Shift Information
- Variable Day Shifts
- 40 Hour Guarantee
- Tech may be floated to General OR when cases are low or in circumstances of turnover, breaks, and room openings.
Weekend and On-Call Requirements
- Work every third weekend
- On-call duty of 1-2 nights per week and every third weekend
Qualifications
- 5+ years of CVOR experience (required)
- Open Heart experience (required)
- Comfortable floating to General OR if needed (required)
- Experience in a tertiary care center and/or designated Level I or II trauma center (required)
Certification Requirements
- Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Active NBSTSA Certification
