Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse provides clinical care to patients in the pre-operative setting. This role involves coordinating and implementing individualized patient care while ensuring quality and safety standards are consistently met. The Nurse must demonstrate professionalism and uphold the organization’s mission and goals, fostering respectful interactions with patients, families, and staff.
Shift Details:
- Shift: 6:30 AM - 3:30 PM
- Work Schedule: 5 Days, 8 Hours
- Weekend Requirement: No
Responsibilities:
- Meet the expectations of the applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Conduct initial patient assessments and establish care priorities based on individual age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
- Systematically re-assess patients to identify progress and trends that may require intervention.
- Develop and implement a measurable, individualized plan of care for each patient, adhering to Nursing Standards of Care.
- Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on patient evaluations and modify care plans as needed.
- Engage in health education and discharge planning for patients and their significant others.
- Document and implement timely interventions tailored to patient needs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans regularly.
- Perform various Point of Care testing procedures as required.
Qualifications:
Education and Skills:
- Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
- Current knowledge and skills appropriate for the age and type of patient population served.
- Understanding and sensitivity to patients’ rights in the delivery of care.
- Clear and concise communication skills suitable for the developmental age of patients.
Experience:
- Newly hired nurses with two or less years of experience will be classified at CN I status. Higher clinical ladder levels (II and III) may be considered based on relevant experience, national nursing certification, and additional nursing education.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Current New Mexico RN license or valid Compact state license.
- BLS Certification from AHA required.
- ACLS Certification from AHA required.
Additional Information:
- Blocked scheduling is accommodated.
- On-call requirement: Yes, 1-2 call nights per week from end of shift to 10:00 PM.
- Floating may be required between locations.
- Nurse to patient ratio: 2:1.
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system used: EPIC.
- Required attire: Pewter scrubs.
