Description
Position Overview
This position is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the respiratory and cardiac status of patients recovering from anesthesia. The Registered Nurse will continuously assess patients, implement physician orders, and ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the recovery process.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment: Regularly assess patient needs and provide skilled nursing services as outlined in the plan of care and accepted nursing standards.
- Direct Patient Care: Deliver direct care to patients, including medication administration, conducting treatments, responding to call lights, assisting with transfers, and addressing alarms.
- Evaluation of Treatment Plans: Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and collaborate with team members to update and revise care plans using current data to enhance patient care.
- Order Processing: Accurately process physician orders and perform necessary care in a timely manner.
- Medication Management: Follow up on medication changes and clarify orders as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is required.
- Current and active Registered Nurse license in Michigan.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association.
Work Schedule
The position may have variable start times ranging from 8 AM to 10 AM. While weekend coverage is preferred and occasional weekend shifts may be available, they are not required. Additionally, there may be a preference for on-call availability for one night per week with possible weekend coverage.
