Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Certified OR Tech with strong skills in orthopedics, neurology, and general surgery. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in all three areas, ensuring high-quality surgical support across various procedures and patient demographics.
Scheduling Details
- Shift Hours: 3x12s, 7 PM - 7 AM (Friday to Sunday) with occasional holiday shifts
- On-Call Requirement: None
- Requests for Time Off (RTO), Block Scheduling, and Special Scheduling Requests: All must be included in the submission
- Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- Accepting First-Time Travelers: Yes
- Local Candidates: Not accepted
Required License and Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Certification from NBSTSA, NCCT, or military OR Tech certification accepted
- Virginia state license required; travelers with an out-of-state license must obtain a Virginia license and will be given a 90-day authorization to work while the license is pending
Required Clinical Skills
- Strong experience in general surgery, orthopedics (total joints), and neurosurgery
- Experience with complex cases including big belly, cranial, and orthopedic trauma preferred
- Robotic surgery training is highly preferred
Unit Details
The operating room supports a diverse patient population, including neonates, adolescents, infants, pediatrics, and geriatrics. It features:
- Level I Trauma Operating Room with 25 OR suites and 24/7 onsite nursing coverage
- Comprehensive surgical services including general, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics, gynecology, oncology, robotic procedures, ENT, ophthalmology, pediatrics, and sports medicine
- Special Equipment includes ROSA, Si and Xi da Vinci robots, Stealth, O-Arm, and HIPEC
