Schedule
4 shifts consisting of 9 hours each; varied shifts including:
- 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- 6:30 AM - 4:00 PM
- 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM
- 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM
Experience Requirements
Minimum of 1 year of experience; first-time travelers are welcome to apply.
Patient Population
Care provided for a range of patients from pediatrics to geriatrics.
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
General Skills and Work Environment
Seeking a Registered Nurse to work in Outpatient Surgery, including PreOp, PostOp, and PACU settings. Specialties include:
- Retina Surgery
- Total Hip and Knee Replacements
- Hand Surgery
- Breast Oncology and Reconstruction
- ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat)
- Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
- Hernia Repairs
- Podiatry
The candidate must be able to start IVs and be familiar with conscious sedation, as well as general and local anesthesia.
Patient Ratio and Workflow
Staff-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with an average daily census of 10-18 across 5 operating rooms.
Unit Systems
Experience with Epic and Pyxis systems is preferred.
Uniforms
Scrub colors will be provided by the facility.
Time Off
Maximum of 7 days off is allowed. Weekends are not required.
Floating and Call Requirements
Floating within all divisions of Outpatient Surgery may be expected. While there are no call requirements, RNs may need to stay over if the workload requires it based on the completion status of operating rooms.
Holidays
Travelers are expected to work on major holidays, with specific guidelines depending on the number of holidays falling within the assignment period:
- 1 major holiday: expected to work
- 2 major holidays: expected to work both
- 3 major holidays: expected to work 2 out of the 3
Major holidays include:
- Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving/Black Friday
- Christmas Eve/Christmas Day
- New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
Compliance and Clinical Screening
Full compliance is required to ensure a timely start. Candidates will undergo a clinical review to determine fit, followed by a final decision from management. Local candidates are accepted at the same rate.
Orientation Hours
The number of Non-Billable Orientation Hours will be determined by the length of the contract.
