We are seeking a skilled ICU Registered Nurse for a dynamic and challenging role in an intermediate care unit. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in critical care nursing and be adept at managing complex patient needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide care for patients experiencing respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, GI bleeds, and post-operative complications from various surgeries.
• Monitor and manage telemetry with a focus on dysrhythmia recognition and treatment.
• Administer and titrate vasoactive drips and manage arterial lines.
• Utilize rapid response team protocols effectively within the unit.
• Conduct conscious sedation and manage IV insulin protocols and blood products.
• Care for patients with chest tubes, tracheostomies, and provide non-invasive airway management.
• Participate in floating to the sister unit as needed.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience in a critical care or intermediate care setting.
• Experience with arterial lines, telemetry, and conscious sedation is essential.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BCLS, and NIH required.
• Proficient in central and peripheral line care, management, and heparin protocols.
• Ability to work with various patient age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to the start.

Job Details:

• Target Patient Ratios: 1 registered nurse to 3-4 patients.
• Shifts: 12-hour day shifts.
• Scheduling: Flexible with options for 36 or 48 hours per week; no block scheduling.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend is mandatory.
• Floating: May require floating to a sister unit as necessary.

Special Unit Insights:

• Unit features bedside telemetry monitoring with remote backups.
• Nurses must readily recognize and manage dysrhythmias.
• Only one pressor drip is allowed per patient; additional needs will transfer to ICU.
• Common medications include Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, and Dobutamine.
