Job Summary

The Pathologist Assistant plays a pivotal role in the pathology laboratory, supporting pathologists in the preparation and evaluation of tissue specimens. This position requires a keen attention to detail, a strong understanding of anatomical pathology, and an ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens.
• Prepare tissue samples for histological processing, including embedding and cutting.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of specimens and their processing.
• Collaborate with pathologists to ensure the timely and accurate diagnosis of specimens.
• Participate in quality control and assurance processes to uphold laboratory standards.
• Provide training and guidance to junior staff, when needed.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Pathologists' Assistant or a related field.
• Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, histology, and pathology.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment and technologies.
• Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
