We are seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join our laboratory team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in the collection, preparation, and processing of blood samples for laboratory testing, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.

Shift Information

The position involves 10-hour shifts from 2030 to 0700, including every other weekend.

Job Responsibilities

• Utilize skin puncture and venipuncture techniques to obtain blood samples from patients.
• Verify patient information, label specimen vials, and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
• Dispose of contaminated needles and biohazard materials in compliance with applicable laws, standards, and policies.
• Enter patient, specimen, insurance, and billing information into the appropriate laboratory information systems.
• Process specimens according to established guidelines and protocols.
• Ensure that blood-drawing trays are organized and equipped with sterile instruments and first-time use items.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to infection control, hazardous waste, and other relevant policies.
• Perform additional related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) is required.
• ASCP certification is mandatory.
• Current BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross is required.
• Willingness to travel is preferred.
