This position requires a skilled Radiology Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging procedures under the supervision of certified radiologists. The candidate will demonstrate proficiency in following established protocols, ensuring patient care, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Job Summary
The Radiology Technologist will be responsible for the care and safety of patients during imaging procedures, utilizing age-appropriate care. The role includes assisting radiologists with procedures, supervising student technologists, and fostering positive customer relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Ensure the safety and care of patients during imaging procedures. Obtain appropriate written orders and efficiently complete patient care assignments while maintaining quality and timeliness. Assist in the education of student technologists. (40%)
- Equipment Utilization: Utilize imaging equipment efficiently, focusing on minimizing repeat examinations and practicing cost containment with resources. (20%)
- Patient Communication: Instruct and prepare patients for imaging procedures, ensuring informed consent is obtained as necessary. Communicate discharge instructions and respond sensitively to patients and their families. (10%)
- Documentation: Ensure that all orders, diagnoses, and clinical histories are accurately entered into the computer system. Maintain effective communication with radiologists and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions. (10%)
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all hospital and departmental policies, as well as safety procedures. Practice good radiation protection, follow relevant guidelines for safety, and maintain current licensure requirements while holding sensitive information confidential. (10%)
- Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as required to support departmental functions and goals.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: Graduate of an accredited school of Allied Health Professionals
- Certification & Licensure:
- South Carolina Radiation Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA) Radiographer Certification
- ARRT Radiography (R) Certification
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to perform and teach radiologic exams to produce satisfactory diagnostic images
- Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations
- Competence in operating standard office equipment and radiation safety protocols
Schedule
This is a 7-week assignment with shifts scheduled from Monday to Thursday, from 8 PM to 6 AM, including call and holiday requirements.
