Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, effective communication abilities, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care to adults and geriatrics in a surgical unit setting.
Job Details
- Shift: 12-hour shifts from 06:45 to 19:15
- Contracts: 36 and 48-hour contracts accepted; longer contracts of 13-26 weeks are available.
- Call: Required as needed.
- Floating: Required to similar units and alternate care locations.
- Weekends: Every other weekend required.
- Holidays: Must be able to work holidays.
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a medical-surgical unit.
- Administer medications and monitor patients' responses to treatment.
- Perform specialized procedures including heparin drips, wound vacuum dressing changes, and high-flow oxygen administration.
- Participate in unit team meetings held every fourth Wednesday of each month, with additional meetings for night shift staff as necessary.
- Respond effectively during catastrophic events and disasters as a part of the Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical nursing role.
- First-time travelers are accepted.
- CPI certification is preferred.
- Charge nurse experience is preferred for night shift travelers.

- Medication Management: PYXIS
- Documentation: EPIC
- Communication: SBAR
Orientation and Uniform
- Orientation: 24 hours.
- Uniform: Navy scrubs.
