Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our dynamic Medical Rehabilitation team. The role involves providing high-quality care to patients with various conditions including cerebrovascular disease, traumatic brain injury, amputations, spinal cord injuries, and other neurological diseases.
Unit Description
The unit consists of 24 beds and focuses on rehabilitation for patients requiring multidisciplinary care. Each patient is assigned a dedicated care team that includes a physiatrist, nurse practitioner, nurse, two therapists (based on patient needs), and a social worker. This collaborative effort ensures the creation of tailored care plans with an expected length of stay of approximately two weeks. Patients engage in therapy for three hours a day, Monday through Friday.
Schedule
- Shift Options: 3x12 hour nights or 4x12 hour nights (7 PM - 7 AM).
- Requires weekdays and alternating weekends.
- Opportunity to request block scheduling (discuss during interview).
- Orientation held bi-weekly on Thursdays.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to rehabilitation patients.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to implement personalized care plans.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation using Cerner.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to patient care strategies.
- Float within scope to meet facility needs as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in an acute care rehabilitation setting.
- Charge nurse experience is preferred.
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association) is required.
- Acute care rehabilitation certification is preferred.
- Active West Virginia or Compact RN License required (can submit with pending license but must be active to start).
Patient Population
The registered nurse will work with patients experiencing:
- Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI)
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
- Stroke
- Amputation
- Neuromuscular Disorders
- Severe Deconditioning related to cardiac or respiratory events
Additional Information
- Ratio: Days 1:4/5, Nights 1:5/6.
- Every other weekend commitment is required.
- No on-call requirement.
- Parking is free for travelers.
- Flu vaccination is mandatory unless documented allergy is provided.
