Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical

Position Overview

The Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the orthopedic surgical unit. This role requires a strong focus on patient assessment, critical thinking, and delivering high-quality care to individuals undergoing various surgical and post-surgical procedures.

Shift and Schedule

Shift: 3x12-hour shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
Weekend Coverage: Every 3rd weekend required

Core Responsibilities

Deliver nursing care to patients post-joint replacements, spinal surgeries, and orthopedic trauma.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
Monitor patient status and outcomes, documenting and reporting any significant changes.
Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding surgical procedures and recovery plans.
Assist with the management of peripheral nerve block catheters and surgical drains.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and recovery.
Float between orthopedic and medical-surgical units as required.

Qualifications

Must possess an active RN license.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical Surgical Ortho setting.
Must have completed at least one travel nursing assignment.
Orthopedic experience is required, specifically with peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, and surgical drains.
Certification in BLS (Basic Life Support) is required.

Additional Requirements

All employees must receive the flu vaccine annually to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
