Position Overview
The position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry care, specifically within an Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) unit. The focus is on providing high-quality nursing care to hospitalized patients aged 65 and older, helping to preserve cognitive and physical function.
Scheduling and Charting Details
- Shift Hours: Day shifts, 3x12 hours (07:00 - 19:30)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Charting: 1 year of EPIC experience required
- Call Off Policy: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
- Local Candidates: Accepted, with specific radius rule criteria
- Pending Licenses: Not accepted; an active SC or multistate license is required
Required Certifications
- BLS - Basic Life Support
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
Required Clinical Skills
- Experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing
- IV starts and blood product administration
- Management of central, peripheral, and PICC lines
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Remote telemetry monitoring
- Application of heparin protocols and telemetry-capable care
- Proficient in care focused on geriatric patients
Unit Details
- Staffing Ratios: 1 RN to 5 patients
- Unit Capacity: 26 beds in the ACE unit
- This unit is staffed by Geriatric Resource Nurses and other nursing staff, committed to assisting patients in returning to their pre-admission baseline.
- Floating Policy: Agency staff may need to float to other units or campuses as required, limited to areas of qualification and documented competencies.
