Job Description

The Registered Staff Nurse (RN) provides holistic care to patients and their families. The focus is on performing independent, collaborative, and delegated nursing functions as outlined in the standards and competencies specific to the assigned service area.

The scope of practice may involve caring for individuals across all age groups, including neonates, infants, children, young adults, adults, and older adults. The RN executes the Standards of Nursing Practice, which include:

• Assessment
• Nursing diagnosis
• Outcome identification
• Planning
• Implementation
• Evaluation

The RN also develops and revises the patient care plan, coordinates care across various disciplines, and delegates activities to other care providers as appropriate. Active participation in shared accountability and decision-making regarding nursing practices is essential.

Through engagement in practice and the implementation of personal leadership qualities, the RN helps define, implement, and enhance practice standards and the care environment, promoting exceptional patient care.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC)
• Experience with adult and geriatric populations
• Experience using Epic electronic health record system

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with fresh open heart surgery patients
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms
• Experience with Impella and balloon pumps

Additional Information

• Floating to other ICUs and medical/surgical units may be required if staffing needs arise.
• A temporary nursing license from Minnesota will be accepted if a permanent license application is in process.
• Weekend shifts are mandatory, with a rotating schedule between days and nights.
