Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated team. This is a full-time position consisting of 40 hours per week, primarily during daytime hours.

Unit Information

The Endoscopy unit comprises:

• 7 procedure rooms
• 4 rooms designated for Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC)
• 3 rooms for Conscious Sedation procedures
• Holding and recovery areas

The unit operates on weekdays, with staff available for on-call responsibilities during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Experience Requirements

Candidates must have:

• A minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in one location as an RN
• At least 2 years of experience working as a traveler in a similar capacity

Required Skills

Ideal candidates will possess the following skills:

• Proficiency in GI Technician Endoscopy procedures
• Experience with Olympus scope setup, handling, and reprocessing

Patient Care and Staffing

The clinician-to-patient ratio is:

• 1:1 in procedure rooms
• 1:2-3 in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

The unit serves a diverse patient population and conducts an average of 60-70 procedures daily.

Technology and Certifications

Charting is performed using the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system. Required certifications include:

• Active Massachusetts RN License
• AHA ACLS Certification
• SGNA or CBSPD certification strongly preferred

Work Schedule

Shift hours are generally from 7:15 AM to 3:45 PM with one rotating day from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Flexibility with rotating shifts is expected, as the department operates from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
