Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Name: Endoscopy – GI/ENDO RN

Shift: 7:15 AM to 3:45 PM with 1 rotating day from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM; or 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

Unit Overview

The Endoscopy unit features seven rooms, including four for monitored anesthesia care (MAC) and three for conscious sedation procedures. This unit operates on weekdays and provides holding and recovery rooms. On-call coverage is required for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Experience Requirements

• A minimum of 2-3 years of nursing experience in a single location.
• At least 2 years of experience working as a travel nurse.

Required Skills

• Proficient in GI technician endoscopy procedures.
• Experience with Olympus scope set-up, handling, and reprocessing.

Patient Care

• Clinician to patient ratio: 1:1 in procedural rooms; 1:2-3 in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU).
• Serves a diverse patient population.

Facility Capacity

• 18 PACU bays and 8 procedural rooms.
• Averages 60-70 procedures per day.

Technology and Documentation

Utilizes the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system for documentation and patient management.

Rotating Shifts and Floating

Rotating shifts may be required depending on departmental hours, which are from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM. There is no floating required between units.

Certifications and License Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
• Current AHA ACLS certification.
• SGNA or CBSPD certification is strongly preferred.
