Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room

Summary:

The competent Nurse, with experience in a clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates an understanding of all relevant aspects of patient care. This role involves providing both routine and complex care, focusing on long-range goals and plans. The Nurse continues to develop skills in managing clinical contingencies and makes appropriate assignments to delegate tasks among other care providers effectively.

Responsibilities:

• Meets expectations of applicable competencies in nursing leadership.
• Provides nursing care in accordance with the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families.
• Administers medications and treatments according to protocols; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers while identifying issues and resources.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Experience:

• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

• Current BLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current ACLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current PALS certification required (AHA only).
• Current TNCC certification required.
• RN License in the state of Texas or compact.

Position Requirements:

Education/Skills:

• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires will be precepted by a designated, trained staff member and initial onboarding requirements validated through successful completion of organizational entry competency validation, as well as emergency department-specific competency validation.
• Newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation, with skills and competency completions documented through the program’s tracking software.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements.

Experience:

• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Work Schedule:

12-hour shift from 6 AM - 6 PM.
