Job Summary: The Registered Nurse provides competent clinical nursing care that aligns with professional standards. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting, reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director.

Essential Duties:

• Education:
  • Identify and address personal learning needs.
  • Participate in educational programs based on identified learning needs.
  • Utilize patient education materials relevant to the patient population, with assistance when necessary.
• Evaluation of Care:
  • Identify expected patient outcomes.
  • Seek guidance for revision of care plans when needed.
  • Engage with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate patient care.
  • Communicate important information to foster continuity of care.
• Implementation:
  • Exhibit competence in caring for patients with complex issues, encompassing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.
  • Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required.
  • Adhere to organizational and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in care delivery.
  • Prioritize and organize patient care based on family needs.
  • Consult resources regarding complex care issues and high-risk discharge planning.
• Leadership:
  • Assist in developing personal professional growth goals.
  • Achieve set goals and objectives or negotiate timelines with supervisors.
  • Engage in activities that promote collaboration across departments.
  • Contribute to unit goals and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Effectively use communication systems.
  • Advocate for cost-effective care.
  • Provide constructive feedback to colleagues.
  • Stay informed about public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare.

• Patient Assessment:
  • Identify and analyze data from complex situations to prioritize care.
  • Assess the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of patients.
  • Integrate assessment data into coherent communication for team members.
  • Evaluate individual patient and family discharge needs.
  • Build relationships with families that empower them to advocate for patients.
• Planning:
  • Collaborate with patients and families to formulate or update care plans.
  • Utilize multidisciplinary resources for effective care planning.
  • Communicate plans clearly among team members.
  • Recognize cultural and ethnic factors in patient care planning.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks for complex patient cases.
• Research:
  • Engage with professional journals pertinent to nursing practice.
  • Present ideas and queries to the staff for consideration of applicability.

Skills and Experience:

• Required Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (Epic) is required.
• Preferred Skills & Experience:

Education:

• Required Education:
  • Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Preferred Education:
  • BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.
