Shift Information

The position requires a 12-hour Night shift. The typical schedule consists of 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next, along with the possibility of one on-call shift per week. Flexibility is essential, as shifts may include days, weekends, and holidays as needed. A maximum of two (2) shift call-offs is permitted, and requests for time off during Thanksgiving and Christmas will not be accepted.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will serve in the Medical-Surgical Unit (MSU), providing care for adult, geriatric, and pediatric patients. The unit maintains excellent staffing ratios, with typical non-COVID patient ratios of 4:1 and a maximum of 5:1, and COVID patient ratios of 2:1, with a maximum of 3:1.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in a 20-bed medical-surgical unit focusing on both adult and pediatric populations.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor patients’ responses.
• Assist with the coverage of Flu Immunization clinics as needed in addition to inpatient duties.
• Attend staff meetings as required.
• Float to other departments as qualified, which may include taking on patient loads or task-oriented duties such as answering call lights and phones.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of medical-surgical nursing experience.
• At least one (1) year of pediatric nursing experience is required; candidates must be comfortable caring for both adult and pediatric patients.
• Current certifications in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required.
• Candidates must be flexible and adaptable to different shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Orientation and Housing

Orientation for new employees is held on Mondays. If a traveler misses the compliance deadline, they will be placed in the next scheduled New Employee Orientation. For housing information, please refer to the 'Facility Group Document' section.

Holiday coverage is required for this position.
