Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac Telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will have expertise in managing complex cardiac conditions and administering continuous IV medications. This position requires strong clinical skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage patients on continuous IV medications, including but not limited to Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, and Nitroglycerin.
- Administer diuretics such as Bumex and Lasix, as well as anticoagulants like Aggrastat, Argatroban, and Heparin.
- Oversee insulin drips and ensure accurate monitoring of patient responses.
- Provide care for a diverse adult-to-geriatric patient population experiencing conditions such as cardiac arrhythmias, chest pain, and renal or pulmonary complications.
- Participate in caring for patients pre- and post-cardio procedures including cardiac cath, and assist with surgical patients as needed.
- Conduct arrhythmia management, cardioversion, and respond to emergent situations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Prior experience managing continuous IV medications is mandatory.
- Current certifications in BLS and ACLS.
General Skills and Requirements
- Ability to manage a patient ratio of 1:5-6 in a 32-bed unit.
- Experience with Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR documentation systems is preferred.
- Flexible to float within the facility as needed, adhering to scope of practice.
- Capable of managing various patient conditions including arrhythmias, DKA, and post-surgical care.
Work Schedule
This role requires a day shift schedule, typically 3x12-hour shifts from 07:00 to 19:00. Travelers may be required to work every other weekend and are expected to cover major holidays during their assignment period.
Compliance and Orientation
Full compliance with required certifications and training is necessary to ensure timely start dates. Orientation hours will vary based on contract length.
Dress Code
Scrubs are to be navy blue, as per unit requirements.
