Job Description
The Mammography Technologist performs outpatient screening and diagnostic exams, as well as bone density studies. This position involves executing stereotactic and ultrasound biopsies, as well as the placement of magseed and wire localization. The technologist will also be responsible for post clip placements included in these procedures.
Shift Information
- Schedule: 5 days a week, Monday to Friday
- Hours:
- Monday and Friday: 08:00 - 16:30
- Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: 09:00 - 17:30
- Rotating Saturdays: Typically every 6th Saturday
Caseload
The typical caseload is between 30 to 40 patients per day.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in mammography
- Active Illinois license (IEMA) required
- BLS certification required
- ARRT certification in Mammography required
- Pending licenses are not accepted
- Registered Breast Ultrasound or Registered Breast Sonographer certification is preferred
Special Requirements
- DEXA experience is a plus
- The technologist will not be required to perform biopsies or localization exams
- Comfort with post clip examinations is essential
Additional Skills
The following skills are beneficial for the position:
- Experience with adult/critical care procedures, including endotracheal tube management, tracheostomy suctioning, and medical administration of respiratory treatments.
- Proficiency in ABG interpretation and basic EKG readings.

Charting
Experience with Meditech is highly preferred, although orientation will include Meditech training for new hires.
