Shift: 3, 12-hour shifts per week, 0630-1900

Position Summary

The Surgical Technician functions as a vital member of the operating room team, assuming responsibility for the scrub position during surgical interventions. The technician maintains a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices in accordance with established standards and policies.

Essential Functions

• Demonstrate proficiency in a variety of surgical procedures.
• Exhibit knowledge of various surgical equipment and instruments.
• Assist team members by setting up and maintaining a sterile field.
• Utilize instruments, sutures, and stapling devices safely and effectively.
• Follow procedures for obtaining, returning, cleaning, and disposing of equipment.
• Prepare according to the surgeon's preference card and specific procedure requirements.
• Report and recognize any faulty equipment or unsafe conditions.
• Accurately conduct all sponge, needle, and instrument counts at designated times.
• Save and properly identify all specimens according to departmental policies.
• Demonstrate an ability to handle emergency situations effectively.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
• Current Washington State Surgical Technologist license.
• National Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists.
• Experience in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) required.

Additional Information

The position requires availability to take call, with a commitment to a minimum of 14 days of call within a 6-week schedule.
