Description
This is a float pool position. The candidate must be willing to float to multiple different units and have experience in an acute care hospital setting.
Position Information
- Facility Department/Cost Center: Float Pool
- Specialty: Med/Surg Tele – IMC (floating to Medical, Surgical, and Cardiology units)
- Number of Openings: Varies
- Shift: Night shift, 0700 – 1930
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 48
- Weekend Hours: 36 (subject to fluctuation based on unit needs)
- Call Requirements: None
- Years of Experience: 2 years of inpatient hospital experience preferred, Level 1 Trauma experience required; 1 year of travel experience required.
- Float Requirements: Must float every shift
Education & Certifications Required
- Required Certifications: Valid RN License (State of Maine), BLS Required, ACLS Preferred
- Education Modules: Assigned by the Education Department for Day 1 Onboarding
Unit Information
- Number of Beds: Varies based on unit floated to (15 to 40+ beds)
- Patient Ratios: Typically 1:4 on days, 1:5 on nights (1:6 during peak times)
- Equipment: Abbott Plum Pumps
- EMR: EPIC
Hiring Profile
- Must Have Skills/Experience: 2 years Level 1 Trauma acute hospital experience; ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Preferred Skillset/Experience: Minimum 1 year of travel assignments; 2 years of relevant experience preferred
- Type of Patients: Varies based on unit floated to
- Personality Fit: Flexibility is essential
Dress Code
- Scrub Color: Any color, as long as it is clean and professional.
- Unacceptable Attire: Jeans, t-shirts, open-toed shoes, or shoes with holes (such as Crocs)
Miscellaneous Information
Minimum 1 year travel or prior float pool experience is recommended for success in this position. Level 1 Trauma experience in a facility with 500 beds or larger is required.
