Registered Nurse (RN) - Outpatient, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for the Outpatient, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to provide high-quality care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will have the ability to handle a variety of responsibilities and demonstrate strong nursing skills in a fast-paced environment.

Shift Information

• Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
• Call responsibilities: 2-3 days per week
• Weekend requirements: On-call for two weekends per month

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct patient admissions and discharges for surgical and procedural cases, including performing nursing admission assessments.
• Provide Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia care to patients.
• Effectively communicate with team members including nursing and physician colleagues.
• Demonstrate strong assessment, IV skills, and patient education abilities.
• Multitask effectively in a dynamic environment with up to 17 patients per day.
• Assist in the operating room when needed, preparing for surgical procedures.
• Maintain high standards of customer service and time management.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Same Day Surgery required.
• Experience in a rural outpatient facility is required.
• Proven experience in admitting and discharging patients.
• Hands-on experience in Phase I and II PACU care.
• IV start experience is essential.
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR is required.
• Travel experience is highly preferred.
• Strong detailed work history and skills checklist are necessary for submission.
• Must have own vehicle, as the community does not offer public transportation.

Please note that any requested time off during the assignment must be identified and verified upon submission, as requests after submission are not accepted. Additionally, travelers may not take all holidays off and must be available to work during key holiday periods.

Certifications Required

• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)

Candidates must be willing to obtain a Vermont state license prior to starting the position.
