Job Summary

The Cardiovascular Sonographer demonstrates proficiency in providing pre-procedure and post-procedure patient care, including patient assessment and emergency cardiac care (CPR certification is required). The role may involve assisting with post-procedure transport as needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure daily calibration and maintenance of equipment, documenting all maintenance and quality assurance checks.
• Produce and capture ultrasound images of the heart and vascular structures.
• Assist in staff training and educational initiatives when necessary.
• Monitor and record patient information, maintaining report storage and data systems.
• Compile and enter data for billing and prepare reports as required.
• Prepare the procedure room and equipment for daily use, ensuring timely transitions between procedures.

Qualifications

Required Education

• Accredited Associate’s Degree in Sonography, Radiology, or a related field, or
• Completion of a twelve-month ultrasound program.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• BLS certification
• One of the following certifications is required:
  • RDCS certified through ARDMS
  • RCS, ACS, or RCCS certified through CCI

Experience

A minimum of 2 years of current experience as a Cardiovascular Sonographer or Echocardiographer is required. Epic experience is mandatory, with stress echo experience being preferred.
