Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to provide essential nursing care in the operating room setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong surgical skills and the ability to manage a variety of surgical cases efficiently.

Job Details

• Shift Length: 8 or 10 hours, with primarily 10-hour day shifts (0700-1730) and occasional 8-hour PM shifts (1500-2330) approximately every five weeks.
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week.
• On-call Requirements: One long call per week (Monday-Thursday) and one weekend approximately every 5-6 weeks.
• Holiday Requirements: At least one holiday per year.

Responsibilities

The Operating Room Registered Nurse will:

• Circulate a variety of surgical cases, including but not limited to:
• General/GYN/Urology: Bowel resections, laparoscopic cases, daVinci Xi cases, peripheral vascular surgeries, bariatrics, c-sections, laparoscopic appendectomies, and cholecystectomies.
• Orthopedics: Total joints (knees, hips, shoulders, ankles) with or without MAKO robot, arthroscopy, and orthopedic trauma.
• Neuro/ENT/Oral/Plastics: Procedures including trach, ENT surgeries (Tonsillectomy, Adenoidectomy, Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery), plastic surgeries, spine fusions, and facial surgeries.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols within the operating room.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum of 1 year in an operating room environment.
• Required Certifications: ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA) verification.
• Skills: Must be able to circulate for various surgical specialties as detailed above. Scrubbing is not required.
• EMR Proficiency: Familiarity with Cerner is a plus.

Orientation and Training

Successful candidates will receive a comprehensive orientation, including 2-3 days with an educator and 1-2 weeks of case training to familiarize themselves with the operating room flow and procedures.

Dress Code

Scrub color is navy blue, provided at no cost through vending services.
