We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit team. This role is focused on providing competent clinical nursing care in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process under the guidance of the Nurse Manager/Director. The position requires active participation in patient education, evaluation of care, and effective communication within the interdisciplinary team.

Essential Duties

• Education:
  • Identify and meet personal educational needs.
  • Attend relevant education programs.
  • Utilize patient education materials pertinent to the patient population.
  • Assess readiness to learn among patients, families, and caregivers.
• Evaluation of Care:
  • Identify expected patient outcomes.
  • Seek guidance for plan of care revisions.
  • Discuss patient care evaluations with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Communicate pertinent information to ensure continuity of care.
• Implementation:
  • Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex health issues.
  • Utilize healthcare organization standards and policies in delivering care.
  • Organize and prioritize patient care based on individual needs.
• Leadership:
  • Develop professional growth goals with assistance.
  • Participate in the achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.
  • Effectively utilize communication systems within the workplace.
• Patient Assessment:
  • Recognize data from complex situations to determine care priorities.
  • Synthesize assessment data effectively for communication with team members.
  • Assess and anticipate discharge needs of patients and families.
• Planning:
  • Collaborate with patients and families to prepare or update care plans.
  • Utilize multidisciplinary resources in care planning.
• Research:
  • Stay updated by reading relevant nursing journals and articles.
  • Discuss ideas and questions with team members to evaluate their applicability.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience.

Education:

• Nursing Diploma or an ADN/ASN from an accredited nursing school.

Preferred Education:

• BSN or MSN from an accredited nursing school.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC).

Schedule Notes

Candidate will support a shared staffing model between the Pediatric Cardiac ICU and the Pediatric ICU. Flexibility to work between both areas is a requirement of this role.
