Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with experience in orthopedic care to join our fast-paced and dynamic nursing team. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary skills and certifications to provide high-quality patient care in a variety of settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical patients.
• Stay on top of pain management for patients requiring orthopedic and spine interventions.
• Monitor vital signs and telemetry as part of patient assessments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Be prepared to float to other medical-surgical units based on staffing needs.
• Participate in a rotating weekend schedule, including making up time if a shift is missed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in orthopedics.
• Experience with IV starts and telemetry monitoring.
• BCLS and NIH certifications are required.
• ACLS certification and charge nurse experience are preferred.
• Experience with trauma care in a Level I setting is highly regarded.
• Candidates with Epic experience are encouraged to apply, including first-time travelers.

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour daytime shifts available (06:45 - 19:15).
• Work schedule options include 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Expect an average patient-to-nurse ratio of 5-6:1, which may flex to 7:1 in extreme cases.
• No call requirement, allowing for a focus on direct patient care.
• Holiday staffing commitments will be in place, as time off requests during the holidays will not be approved.
• Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start.

Patient Population

The unit serves an average daily census of 37 patients, with a total of 39 rooms and beds. Our focus is on orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical care, adapting to the needs of the patients as required.

Important Notes

• RTO requests after booking are not permitted and must not be calculated on-site.
• Any call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation of the contract.
• Acceptance of 20+ week contracts is available to facilitate coverage during the holidays.
• Local candidates are welcome at the regular rate during the holiday period.
