Registered Nurse / Emergency Room

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Room team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients across a diverse range of age groups, including neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.

Shift Details

• Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts
• Shift Time: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM

Weekend Requirement

Candidates must be available to work every other weekend, covering both Saturday and Sunday shifts.

Floating Requirements

The Registered Nurse may be required to float between like units to meet facility needs. This includes support for two rapid evaluation units, as well as two locked units in the Emergency Department for Behavioral Health care.

Time Off and Holiday Requirements

• Holiday coverage is mandatory during the contract period.
• One pre-approved time-off request is permitted per contract.
• All requested time off must be included in the contract and reviewed with management.

Patient Care Ratios

• Experience with patient ratios of 1:4-6 in the Emergency Department.
• Support for 2 locked Behavioral Health units at a ratio of 1:6.
• A security team will be present in Behavioral Health units.

Experience Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department experience is required.
• Consideration may be given for candidates with 2 years of experience in a Level I or Level II trauma facility.
• Precepting and training experience are preferred.

Certifications

• ACLS, BLS, NIH, and PALS certifications are required.
• Completion of the Prophecy Relias Advanced Emergency Department assessment is required.
• 4 hours of annual stroke continuing education is required.
• CEN certification is preferred.

Licensure Requirements

A valid RN license in Maryland or a compact RN license is required upon submission.

Unit Information

The Emergency Department includes:

• 54 beds with an average of approximately 120 visits per day.
• Capabilities to care for a full spectrum of patients.
• Designated as a Primary Stroke Center with Gold Plus recognition from the American Heart Association.
• STEMI patients may transfer when cardiac catheterization is needed.
• Access to care management and behavioral health support.

Scrub Color

The required scrub color is navy blue.

Charting System

The electronic health record system used is Cerner, with FirstNet and Launch functionalities.
