Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive care in an acute care rehabilitation setting, catering to patients with rehabilitation needs following conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and general debility. This is a night shift position requiring availability for flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Float between various locations as required.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments and interpret laboratory results.
• Perform medication reconciliation and maintain accurate patient health questionnaires including history of allergies.
• Monitor patient vital signs including blood pressure, respirations, temperature, and pulse.
• Execute dressing changes and set up aseptic/sterile procedure trays.
• Perform capillary blood sampling, label specimens, and conduct urine analyses (UA clean catch), as well as phlebotomy.
• Provide telephone triage and handle pharmacy calls/patient refill requests.
• Manage a patient caseload with ratios typically of 1:6, with an occasional rotation to a 1:7 ratio based on acuity.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required; first-time travelers are not eligible.
• Acute care rehabilitation experience is preferred.
• Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical records system is highly preferred.

Patient Population

The position involves working with patients experiencing a variety of rehabilitation needs, such as:

• Cerebrovascular accidents (CVA)
• Traumatic brain injuries (TBI)
• Aquired brain injuries (ABI)
• Spinal cord injuries
• Neurological diagnoses

This is a dynamic role requiring dedicated and compassionate care for patients in an inpatient rehabilitation department. Ideal candidates will demonstrate exceptional nursing skills and the ability to adapt to varying patient needs across different units.
