Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join a dynamic team specializing in cardiac telemetry. The ideal candidate will effectively manage a diverse patient population, including adults and geriatrics, and will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Administer and manage continuous intravenous medications such as amiodarone, Cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, nitroglycerin, and insulin drips.
• Monitor patients receiving diuretics, including Bumex and Lasix, and anticoagulants like Aggrastat, Argatroban, and Heparin.
• Provide care for patients experiencing conditions such as cardiac arrhythmias, chest pain, congestive heart failure (CHF), pulmonary edema, and renal issues.
• Perform cardioversion and other arrhythmia management techniques.
• Care for post-operative surgical patients and manage care including basic arrhythmia knowledge.
• Assist with the management of vascular patients and diabetes-related conditions like DKA.
• Engage in effective communication with healthcare teams using SBAR reporting.
• Document patient care and medication administration accurately in the electronic health record (Epic preferred).

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Cardiac Telemetry or similar setting.
• Experience managing continuous IV medications is required.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS are mandatory.
• Demonstrated skills in arrhythmia management and basic cardiac care.
• Ability to float within the facility as needed while maintaining scope of practice.

Work Environment

• Overflow Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 across 32 beds.
• Day shift, working three 12-hour shifts (07:00 - 19:00).
• Weekend coverage required, typically every other weekend, with schedules based on staff needs.
• Holidays: Expected to work during designated major holidays.
• Call requirements are rare, and response time is limited to 2 hours.
