Job Description Summary

Utilizing the nursing process, this position is responsible for addressing the immediate and long-term nursing care needs of patients while adhering to established standards of practice in the department and complying with regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions

• Accurately assess patients’ needs and utilize multiple data sources to identify actual and potential health problems along with functional status.
• Employ a Recovery Oriented Framework to identify patient strengths.
• Conduct point-of-care testing and consistently communicate findings to members of the healthcare team.
• Document patient responses to interventions and demonstrate an understanding of the effectiveness of treatment.
• Recognize patient behaviors that may lead to crises and apply non-verbal and verbal techniques to de-escalate such situations.
• Plan and modify nursing interventions tailored to individual patient needs.
• Contribute to the development of a multidisciplinary treatment plan.
• Prioritize patient care needs effectively and partner with patients and families to support recovery goals.
• Implement nursing care interventions and establish a therapeutic alliance with assigned patients.
• Administer medications safely and accurately using Barcode Medication Verification (BMV) scanning.
• Review physician orders promptly and promote the least-restrictive alternatives for patient care.
• Facilitate patient group sessions and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care interventions.
• Document care plans and responses to interventions clearly and accurately.
• Communicate clinical status of patients effectively during team rounds and shift reports.
• Utilize evidence-based nursing knowledge to inform practice decisions.
• Provide leadership in organizing and delivering patient care and supervise medical and health support staff.
• Delegate care interventions appropriately and assume a leading role in medical and psychiatric emergencies.
• Conduct critical incident debriefing following emergency events.

Unit Information

This role involves working shifts that typically run from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM or 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM.
