Position Overview

This position functions as an EMS unit on-site at a correctional facility, providing medical care to incarcerated individuals, correctional officers, and staff.

Qualifications

• Current New Mexico EMS License or Provisional License
• NREMT Certification
• National Certifications: ACLS, BLS, EMT-P
• Minimum years of experience: Not specified

Schedule Requirements

• Weekend shifts are required: Yes, every other weekend
• On-call requirement: No
• Accommodation for block schedule: Not guaranteed
• RTO restrictions: Greater than 7 days requires approval

Work Details

• Guaranteed hours: 36/48/40 hours per week, with the facility allowed to call off shifts 3 times throughout a 13-week assignment
• Charting system: Cerner
• No designated smoking areas, including parking lot
• Parking: No fee

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced life support procedures including cardioversion, defibrillation, and EKG interpretation
• Manage cardiac emergencies, including cardiac arrest and chest pain
• Monitor and report vital signs and administer emergency medications, including Narcan
• Execute intra-osseous placement/infusion and maintain IVs
• Conduct phlebotomy when necessary
• Manage patients experiencing violent behavior and assess for conditions such as hyper/hypoglycemia
• Conduct pulses and circulation checks and manage STEMI cases
