Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering individualized nursing care to patients by utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN will collaborate with inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. This position requires providing care across various phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up as patients progress along the continuum of care.

Essential Functions

• Adhere to legal regulations and organizational policies regarding patient health information.
• Coordinate and manage care for patients, including those with complex medical needs.
• Deliver effective written and oral communications, engaging participants and responding to their inquiries and concerns.
• Delegate and supervise tasks based on state practice acts, with an understanding of responsibility, authority, and accountability.
• Establish and maintain productive working relationships within and outside of the nursing department.
• Provide constructive feedback to patients and family members regarding health matters.
• Perform age-specific patient assessments and nursing interventions.
• Promote a safe environment for patients, families, staff, residents, and visitors, working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Active RN license in South Dakota or a compact state.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent nursing experience in a medical/surgical unit.
• Willingness to float to any medical-surgical or telemetry unit as requested, within the scope of practice.

Shift Information

• Shift Type: Night Shifts
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday required.

Patient Ratios

Typical patient care ratios are 1:4-5 during days and 1:5-6 during nights.

Dress Code

Navy blue scrubs are required for all staff members in this position.
