Job Description

Under the guidance of the Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technician is responsible for ensuring the safety and care of patients during surgical procedures. This role involves providing technical assistance in the Operating Room while maintaining knowledge relevant to the patient age groups served.

Essential Job Functions

• Prepare the operating room in a timely and organized manner for surgical procedures.
• Apply principles of asepsis effectively.
• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize all equipment in the Operating Room and Endoscopic Lab.
• Coordinate with the RN Circulator regarding patient care.
• Stock and replace Central Sterile items; prepare and maintain the Central Sterile inventory sheet.
• Maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures and assist the physician with correct instrumentation.
• Follow verbal orders from the physician in the operating suite.
• Handle surgical specimens appropriately.
• Compile necessary equipment for the surgical field.
• Document any unusual occurrences promptly and complete required departmental forms.
• Perform CPR as necessary and proficiently use all applicable instruments and equipment.
• Clean and wrap instruments for sterilization.
• Transport patients to and from the Operating Room.
• Monitor surgical equipment, including its maintenance and repairs.
• Complete duties as technical scrub in the Operating Room.
• Prepare room and equipment for Endoscopy procedures.
• Maintain a cooperative and professional demeanor within the Operating Room.
• Other duties as required.

Additional Information

Will not take an in-state traveler unless they have exceeded the 250-mile radius.
