Job Summary:

This role involves providing competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting while reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director.

Essential Duties:

• Education:
  • Participate in identifying and addressing personal learning needs.
  • Attend education programs relevant to professional development.
  • Assess patient/family/caregiver readiness to learn and developmental levels.
• Evaluation of Care:
  • Identify expected patient outcomes and revise care plans as necessary.
  • Engage with interdisciplinary team members for patient care evaluation.
  • Communicate crucial information for continuity of care.
• Implementation:
  • Demonstrate competency in caring for patients with complex conditions.
  • Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required by the care plan.
  • Utilize organization and nursing standards in care delivery.
  • Organize and prioritize care based on patient and family needs.
• Leadership:
  • Develop goals for professional growth with guidance.
  • Achieve objectives or renegotiate goals with supervisors as needed.
  • Contribute to unit goals and performance improvement initiatives.
• Patient Assessment:
  • Recognize data from complex situations to set care priorities.
  • Assess and synthesize physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
  • Anticipate discharge needs for patients and their families.
• Planning:
  • Collaborate with patients and families to develop or update care plans.
  • Utilize multidisciplinary resources in care planning.
  • Address cultural and ethnic considerations in planning patient care.
• Research:
  • Read relevant journals to enhance practice.
  • Discuss ideas and inquiries with staff for applicability to practice.

Skills:

• One (1) year of nursing experience required.

Education:

• Required: Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Preferred: BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.

Certifications & Licensure:

• Must hold a license as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification required.
