Job Description

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works as part of a collaborative team to deliver physical therapy services under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. The PTA is responsible for implementing selected treatment interventions, collecting data related to these interventions, and making necessary modifications to enhance patient safety and progress.

Responsibilities

• Assist physical therapists in treating individuals across various age groups, from newborns to the elderly.
• Provide care in inpatient, outpatient, and home health settings for patients with medical problems or health-related conditions that limit mobility and functional activities.

Accountability

The PTA reports directly to the Rehabilitation Manager.

Special Demands

• Mental: Strong communication skills are essential for interacting effectively with employees, physicians, visitors, and administration. The ability to adapt to various job situations requiring independent judgment is crucial.
• Physical: Must possess the ability to operate required equipment, perform technical procedures, and communicate professionally with others.

Education Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Current credentialing through the state’s regulatory body for physical therapy.
• Verification of current instruction in Basic Life Support (BLS).

Experience

• A minimum of two years of relevant experience is preferred, with a focus on outpatient care.
• Bi-lingual capabilities are advantageous.

Working Environment

The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The PTA will work in a modern rehabilitation gymnasium that is clean, well-lit, and climate-controlled. Potential exposure to unpleasant sights, smells, and infectious diseases may occur.
