Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry I/IMC MedSurg

Summary:

The competent Nurse practices independently in a clinical setting, demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. The nurse will provide both routine and complex care, with a focus on long-range goals and effective management of clinical contingencies. Responsibilities include appropriate patient assignments and delegation to optimize the clinical workflow.

Responsibilities:

• Meet expectations of professional competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provide nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with practice standards.
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocols; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers; identify issues and available resources.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Experience:

• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

• BLS certification required (AHA only).
• ACLS certification required (AHA only).
• RN License in the state of Texas or compact state.

Position Requirements:

• Attendance at New Nurses Orientation is required within the first 30 days of hire for newly hired experienced RNs.
• New hires will be precepted by a trained staff member; competency validation will be achieved through the designated organizational entry competency process and MedSurg-specific competency validation.
• Participation in a residency program or specific orientation is available for newly licensed RNs.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is expected.
