Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac Telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in telemetry nursing, with expertise in managing adult patients experiencing a range of cardiovascular and related health conditions.
Shift Information
- Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours
- Day Shift: 07:00 - 19:30
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend, subject to variation based on operational needs
- Floating to other similar units or facilities may be required
Patient Population
This position involves caring for adult patients with diverse diagnoses, including but not limited to:
- Chest pain/acute coronary syndrome
- Cardiac arrhythmias
- Diabetes
- Syncope
- Permanent pacemaker insertion
- CVA/TIA/stroke work-up
- Pneumonia
- Heart failure
- COPD
- Sepsis
- GI bleeding
- Surgical patients from various specialties including general surgery, otolaryngology, gynecology, orthopedics, cardiology, and urology
Special Procedures
The unit offers specialized services including:
- Cardiac and telemetry monitoring
- Pulse oximetry
- Transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE)
- Negative pressure isolation (AFB)
- Dialysis
- Administration of continuous intravenous infusions (Level 3) and IV push medications as per policy
- Thoracentesis and Paracentesis procedures
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
- Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in cardiac telemetry nursing is required
- First-time travelers will be considered based on relevant experience
Documentation and Medication Systems
- Medication Systems: Pyxis and Omnicell
- Documentation System: EPIC
