Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in critical care nursing, providing high-quality care to patients with complex conditions. This is a night shift position with a focus on delivering specialized care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in a medical intensive care unit.
• Monitor and interpret patients' vital signs and cardiac rhythms, including dysrhythmias.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established protocols.
• Perform assessments and monitor intake and output, urine output, and blood product administration.
• Manage patients on ventilators and apply high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy.
• Conduct venous access procedures and maintain central and peripheral lines.
• Respond effectively to acute patient conditions, including stroke management and renal failure.
• Uphold infection prevention standards and adhere to isolation precautions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience; acceptable for first-time travelers but preferred with travel experience.
• Patient ratio experience of 1:3 is required.
• Proficiency in interpreting dysrhythmias and performing 12-lead EKGs/ECGs.
• Knowledge of IV insulin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip titration.
• Experience with care of ventilated patients and management of pulmonary conditions.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and Stroke Life Support certification are mandatory.
• Meditech experience is required.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with GI surgery or acute kidney injury management.
• Competency in managing arterial lines, central lines, and PICC lines.
• Familiarity with total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and continuous IV sedation.
• Experienced in interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs) and conducting phlebotomy.
• Ability to recognize infections, particularly in immunosuppressed patients.

Job Details

• Shift: 12-Hour Nights (18:45 - 07:15)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Weekend Requirement: 12 weekend shifts per contract
• Orientation: 24 hours of unit orientation and hospital orientation in the first week

All qualified candidates must pass EKG testing prior to the start of the assignment.

Scheduling is self-managed, with potential rotating floats if necessary due to census demands.
