This outpatient physical therapist position involves delegating responsibilities to Physical Therapist Assistants and Aides while focusing on patient-centered care. The role includes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in accordance with established physical therapy standards, physician orders, and governing policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Evaluation: Assess patients' functions by conducting formal and informal testing measures to determine skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status.
• Treatment Development: Create a goal-specific treatment regimen based on assessment data and the patient's ability to adhere to the prescribed plan.
• Documentation: Prepare a written treatment plan to be included as part of the plan of care, authorized and coordinated with the physician. Update plans as needed to reflect changes in patient status.
• Scheduling: Develop a treatment schedule that details frequencies and durations, and discuss this with patients, families, or caregivers, while coordinating with clinical support staff.
• Patient Education: Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's condition, treatment alternatives, prognosis, and rationale for treatment through various interventions including rest, exercise, and modalities.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Physical Therapist in an outpatient setting is required.
• Must hold an active Michigan Physical Therapist License.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Skills checklist relevant to Physical Therapy updated within the last year.
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the past two years.
