Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in critical care nursing and be committed to providing exceptional patient care.

Position Overview

The ICU Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in collaborating with physicians to develop and implement effective care plans aimed at returning patients to optimal health. This position involves delivering bedside nursing care, executing medical orders, and overseeing the functions of support staff including Nurse Assistants and Patient Care Associates. The nurse will also be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of care plans.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Assumes a leadership role by integrating evidence-based knowledge into clinical practice.
• Delegates and coordinates nursing care tasks and assignments to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Facilitates or participates in patient conferences to discuss care strategies and outcomes.
• Identifies and addresses ongoing patient education needs, preparing for discharge and transfer as necessary.
• Engages in professional growth through educational opportunities and community involvement.
• Provides guidance and mentorship to professional and ancillary personnel, including new employees and students.
• Acts as a team leader, ensuring proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.
• Communicates relevant information clearly and effectively.
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills and effective planning in nursing care delivery.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ICU setting.
• Open heart surgery experience is required.
• Comfortable floating to the Emergency Department (ED) and Step Down units.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required.
• Preferred certifications include TCAR, TNCC, CCRN, and SCRN.
• Travel experience is preferred.
• Neurosurgical experience is also preferred.

Attendance Policy

There is a strict attendance policy in place to ensure adequate staffing and patient care. Attendance strikes will be issued for absences, tardiness, or leaving shifts early without prior approval. Accumulation of three strikes will result in immediate termination from the assignment. Extenuating circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis with appropriate supporting documentation.
