Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced CVICU Registered Nurse to join our team. This role requires extensive knowledge and skills in providing patient care in a cardiothoracic intensive care setting.

Position Overview

• Specialty: CTVICU
• Patient Ratios: 1:2
• Patient Diagnoses: CABG, Aortic Aneurysm repair/dissection repair, Fem Pop Bypass, Pulmonary Embolism, Cardiac Arrest, Endovascular repair, Heart failure, MODS, Sepsis

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for patients undergoing post-operative open heart surgery.
• Assist with bedside procedures such as bedside tach/peg insertions, CRRT, ECMO, IABP, Impella, SWANNs, ART lines, CVCs, chest tubes, Foley insertion, and NG tubes.
• Utilize advanced equipment including CRRT, Hemosphere, Bladerscanner, Cortrak, Ultrasound, Phillips monitors, Impella, IABP, ECMO, ZOLL, Dopplers, Glidescope, Pupilometer, Blanketrol, Arctic Sun, Belmont, and BairHugger.
• May float to other ICUs, PCU floors, ED, or PACU as needed to care for admitted patients.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a CVICU setting required.
• Certifications: Current ACLS and BLS certifications required.
• Availability: Must be available to work on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day for holiday pay.
• On-Call Requirement: No on-call duty required.
• Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed; however, open to accommodating requests.
• Travel Requirement: No locals within a 100-mile radius accepted.

Additional Information

• Guaranteed hours: 36 or 48 contracted hours per week; the facility may call off staff up to three times throughout a 13-week assignment.
• New contracts and extensions must be for a minimum of 10 weeks.
• A 6-month break is required for travelers who have completed 4 consecutive assignments or have reached one year of employment, whichever comes first.
