Job Description:

This position is for a MICU Registered Nurse responsible for providing comprehensive care in a Level III Trauma Center's Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The role requires rotating shifts including day, evening, and night schedules, with every other weekend availability while floating between medical-surgical units as needed.

Unit Information:

• Unit Type: 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU
• Patient Population: Adult patients with conditions including severe psychiatric disorders, substance abuse/overdose, DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock.
• Staffing: Attendings and residents are available in the ICU 24 hours a day.
• Bed Count: 20 beds

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality nursing care for critically ill patients in the MICU.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips effectively.
• Float to medical-surgical units when required, caring for up to 4 or 5 patients in those settings.
• Maintain appropriate RN to patient ratio: 1:2 or 1:1 with high acuity patients, and 1:4 or 1:5 when floated.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of continuous experience in an Adult ICU setting required.
• Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse License is mandatory.
• Candidates must hold current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.

Other Information:

• Floating to medical/surgical units is a requirement.
• Telemetry competency is essential for this position.
