The town of Tupelo in northeast Mississippi is internationally renowned as the birthplace of Elvis Presley, the "King of Rock & Roll." It's also the headquarters for the Natchez Trace Parkway, a 444-mile scenic drive and recreational road popular for hiking and biking that traverses three states following a historic travel corridor used by Native Americans, slave traders, European settlers and soldiers. Many visitors come to Tupelo to tour the home where Elvis was born, the city's most significant landmark and the centerpiece of Elvis Presley Park. Visitors can learn more about the history of Tupelo at the Oren Dunn City Museum in Ballard Park. Colorful murals fill the downtown streets, and its unique culinary scene features lots of fresh, local food.
