The University of Miami is currently seeking a full time Social Worker, LCSW, to work at UHealth Tower South in Miami.
CORE JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent provides psychosocial assessments, intervention, and/or treatment and discharge planning to patients and families to assist them in coping with their hospitalization, illness, diagnosis, and/or life situation and meet the continuing needs of patients post hospitalization. The Social Worker, LCSW, administers a broad variety of therapies and is the designated expert, consultant, or source of knowledge within the social work profession.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
• Provides psychosocial assessments of patients and families to identify emotional, social, and environmental strengths and problems related to their diagnosis, illness, treatment, and/or life situation.
• Administers a broad variety of therapies and is the designated expert, consultant, or source of knowledge within the social work profession.
• Formulates, develops, and implements a plan utilizing appropriate social work interventions.
• Collaborates with the health care team and involves the patient/family in the development and implementation of plans.
• Facilitates discharge planning across a multidisciplinary care continuum which includes interacting with consulting physicians, third party payer and other health care providers to facilitate movement of the patient through the system and arrangement of an appropriate discharge plan.
• Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary staff to design and implement treatment plans and discharge plans for the patient.
• Provides education and counseling to patients and families around issues related to adaptation to the patient's illness and/or life situation.
• May utilize crisis intervention, brief and long-term individual, group, and family therapies.
• Supervises Master of Social Work (MSW) students.
• May function as a resource to other staff as appropriate.
• Provides education to other health care professionals.
• Participates in or consults on research/education programs.

Master’s Degree in Social Work
LCSW
BLS Certified (within 3 months of hire)
Minimum 1 year of experience preferable with cancer patients
English - Required
Bilingual (Spanish) - Preferred
